Camarillo groups help decorate Reagan tree

In preparation for the annual "Christmas Around the World" exhibit at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, several Ventura County community groups gathered at the library on Oct. 23 to help decorate the themed trees.

Groups that participated in the decorating include Armenian Relief Society, Camarillo Antique Club, Camarillo Republican Women Federated, Conejo Valley Republican Women Federated, Girl Scout Troop No. 157, International Women Pilot Association, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lithuania American Community, Pinecrest Elementary School, Thursday Quilting Group and Thousand Oaks Republican Women Federated.

The exhibit will run from Nov. 15 through Jan. 7, 2007 and includes trees decorated to represent cultures and traditions from various countries, most of which Reagan visited while in office, along with toy soldiers, trains, garlands and Christmas music. The trees are from different countries, including Armenia, Austria, Canada, Iceland and Russia.

In addition to these trees, a 17foot tall tree and a White House tree will be displayed. A menorah exhibit will present many of the menorahs given to Reagan while in the White House.

The library is at 40 Presidential Drive in Simi Valley and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission fees are $3 to $12. For more information, call (800) 410-8354.
