Flu shots available for high risk persons Ventura County Public Health has partnered with St. John's Regional Medical Center to provide flu shots for seniors and other individuals with high risk heart and lung conditions, diabetes or asthma, and children ages 6 months to 5 years. In Camarillo, the following clinics will be available: 9 a.m. to noon Sun., Nov. 5 at St. Mary Magdalen Church hall, Crestview and Las Posas Road. 9 to 11 a.m. Sat., Nov. 11 at Camarillo Health Care district, 3639 Las Posas Road. 9 to 11 a.m. Tues., Nov. 14 at Camarillo Community Center, 1605 Burnley. All dates are subject to vaccine availablilty. Those who do not qualify for state vaccine or Medicare Part B will be charged $26. Pneumococcal and tetanus/ diphtheria vaccines will also be available for an additional fee. Appointments are encouraged by calling the Ventura Public Health Center at (805) 652-5928. Flu season lasts through February or March, so November and December are the best months to get a flu shot. Flu shots are recommended for persons age 50 years or older, residents of long-term care facilities, persons ages 5 and up with chronic health conditions, pregnant women, children ages 6 to 59 months, health-care personnel who provide direct patient care, household contacts and out-of-home caregivers of infants less than 6 months and any high-risk person. |
