Zinc Matrix wins technology award

Zinc Matrix Power, developer of new, rechargeable battery technology based on silver, zinc and water, has won Intel's "Technology Innovation Accelerated" award in the mobility category.

The prize was presented during the Intel Developers Forum 2006 Conference last month in San Francisco.

The company won the award based upon its demonstration at the forum of a notebook computer using its new silver-zinc rechargeable battery technology.

The Intel awards recognize the most significant technological in

novation presented during IDF, in six categories: mobility, digital home, digital office, storage, data center, and technology and research. Judges from the press and industry analysts select the winners.

Zinc Matrix Power's technology contains no lithium or flammable liquids and is free from the problems of thermal runaway, fire and danger of explosion. The batteries are also free from the regulations that limit the size of lithiumcontaining batteries on airplanes. A notebook PC battery pack using the cells can be expected to provide longer runtime than equivalent Li

ion based battery packs. "This is a great honor for Zinc Matrix Power, and we're thrilled at the recognition from such an industry visionary as Intel," said Ross Dueber, president and CEO of Zinc Matrix Power Inc.

In addition to notebook computer and cellphone uses, Zinc Matrix Power rechargeable battery technology has applications for the military, government, retail, and broadcast (mobile TV) markets. Zinc Matrix batteries will be available to device manufacturers for evaluation and testing in early 2007.
