The race consists of a 400 meter swim, 10 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run. All events will start and finish at the YMCA. Awards will be given to the top two relay teams and top three individuals in each age bracket.

"The goal of organizing a sprint triathlon is to promote wellness within the Y and within the Cama- rillo community." said Leroy Tho- mas, fitness director at the Cama- rillo Family YMCA. "We also hope to bring families together to partici- pate in an event that is fun, chal- lenging and rewarding,"

Organized by Thomas, mem- bers have the opportunity to train twice a week to prepare for the race. "I've been doing triathlons for a

number of years," Thomas said. "It's fantastic to see members start to believe that doing an event such as a sprint triathlon really is achiev- able. The cross training that triathlon training provides is so ben- eficial for anyone trying to get into shape."

On Wednesday evenings, in preparation for the race, members spin for an hour and run either on the treadmill or outside. On Satur- day mornings, members swim for an hour and then spin.
