Health Care District given $15K grant
Money will pay for 36 new Lifeline devices
By Michelle Knight knight@theacorn.com

The Camarillo Health Care District expanded its stock of Lifeline devices recently. Due to a $15,000 grant from the county's Area Agency on Aging, the dis- trict was able to purchase 36 ad- ditional Lifeline units.

"This is a nice supplement that we're able to give," district spokeswoman Kara Partridge said.

When activated, the water- proof device, worn by the patient at all times while in their home, connects them (in any language) with a 24-hour-a-day response center that will summon help within seconds. If an emergency crew is needed, the response cen- ter will call them to the home.

Partridge said there is no wait- ing list for the devices and re- quests are filled within 24 to 48 hours.

"We're able to process every request and get a unit (out) right away," she said.

The service and device rental costs between $39 and $42 a month.

The health care district-the largest provider of Lifeline devices in the tri-county area and the third largest in Southern California- serves more than 850 clients throughout Ventura County. Last year Lifeline Systems, Inc. recognized the district for having the best man- aged program and highest growth rate in the state.
