Special Olympics accepting donations

Ventura County Special Olympics and Action Donation Services recently announced a new partnership to provide vehicle and other high-end item donation services.

Area Director Peggi Preston said this is a great opportunity to maximize car and other significant donations made to Ventura County Special Olympics.

"In the past," Preston said, "we have received a couple hundred dollars here and there from other car donation agencies. Action Donation Services has assisted other Special Olympics areas in bringing in more donations and making those donations more profitable. We are excited about this new partnership which we feel will benefit everyone involved. To that end, we want everyone to know that Action Donation Services is our agency of choice. We are reaching the end of the year where people are now considering tax-deductible donations as a means to affect their income tax returns."

ADS provides free towing and processes all required DMV and IRS documents. ADS can accept nearly any vehicle, including but not limited to cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles, RVs, personal watercraft, boats, planes, heavy equipment (forklifts, etc.) and real estate.

ADS evaluates every donation and, wherever financially beneficial, will repair, refurbish and properly prepare donated property for sale. Whenever possible, ADS will sell property on the retail market, not wholesale, to achieve the maximum resale value benefiting both Special Olympics and the donor.

For certain property, such as higher valued autos, boats, and/ or RVs, ADS is able to offer the donor a partial cash payment as an incentive.

Action Donation Services' goal is to assist Ventura County Special Olympics to generate funding for their programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
