9/11 remembrance planned for city Camarillo residents will have an opportunity to honor the men and women who died in the 9/11 terrorist attacks during an evening remembrance service in Constitution Park at 7 p.m. on Mon., Sept. 11. Organized by David Knapp, a Camarillo resident and a chaplain at St. John's Pleasant Valley Hospital, the hourlong service will include performances by the Sweet Adelines Channelaire Chorus, a brief prayer, a slide show and presentations by the Ventura County fire and sheriff's departments. Knapp and a small committee of volunteers will host this second annual remembrance service. "We just felt it was the right thing to do to remember," Knapp said. "We didn't want to politicize anything; we just wanted to reflect, not only on the fallen and the heroes of that day, but on the character of America that is resilient." Following the service, coffee and hot chocolate will be served and residents will be invited to tour firetrucks and police cars on display. -Daniel Wolowicz |
