Mayor's speech to address urban development

Mayor Mike Morgan will give the State of the City address during a luncheon at Spanish Hills Country Club on Tues., Sept. 12.

Morgan said he plans to talk about the city's numerous construction projects, including the Ventura Boulevard streetscape, proposals for a new Marriott Hotel near Edwards Cinemas and the Camarillo Commons, a largescale plan to redevelop 55 acres of land at the city's heart as a mixed-use neighborhood of shops, offices and multiunit housing.

The mayor said that he has given the PowerPoint presentation at a handful of town hall meetings throughout Camarillo and most residents are "happily surprised" when they hear about the city's development plans.

To purchase tickets for the luncheon-$35 for chamber members and $45 for nonmembers-call the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce at (805) 4841395.

The event also will include a mini business expo before the mayor's speech.
