United Way names Fonzo vice president

United Way of Ventura County announced recently that Amy Fonzo, former operations manager for Ventura County's Workforce Investment Board, will join the organization in early September in the new position of vice president/external resources.

In her new role Fonzo will be responsible for several key components relating to UWVC's evolving community impact strategy, including:

Development of a new corporate partner program focused on generating new corporate revenue that will be solely used to offset UWVC's operating costs, thereby increasing the total amount of funds available to support organizations, services and programs in the community. audiences in Ventura County.

Development of new funding strategies focused on support for community impact programs, e.g., 2-1-1, Volunteer Network, Children's Health Initiative, etc.

In addition to announcing Fonzo's new role, UWVC President and Chief Executive Officer David Smith also announced that Shari Bridges, resource development director, is assuming a new title of director/ revenue development.

Bridges' primary responsibilities will be oversight of the agency's annual workplace campaigns and the development of new strategies focused on new business expansion.

"Both of these positions are critical to UWVC's success in 2006-2007 and beyond," said Smith. "In order for us to achieve this mission, our organization needs to strengthen its resource base through new and exciting resource development directions."
